1. Packed foods:
Be careful when you buy cans and jars. Don't buy food when its package is not in its perfect food. Check out if the seals are intact or not. Don't buy canned goods that are damaged, dented or covered with rust.Read the labels carefully before using any item. Instructions, list of ingredients and expiry dates are written on food packs. You should read them to make sure if the food is suitable for you.

2. Fruits, Vegetables and Greens:
Buy greens that are fresh, tender, having green colour and no defects. Avoid greens that have effects of insects. Don't buy potatoes which are green.Check out the quality signs of freshness of vegetables and fruits such as fresh appearance, genuine colour, bright and which aren't decayed or bruised.
3. Fish:
Buy
fish which smell fresh and mild. Avoid fish that smell sour or
ammonia-like. The eyes of a fish should be a little bulged and clear.The flesh should spring back when pressed. Whole fish should have firm and shiny flesh.
4. Meat and Poultry:
If
meat or poultry has very dry surface, rancid flavour, changed colour or
bad odour, its quality is deteriorated. Don't buy if you see any of
these signs.Sometimes, juices drip out from raw meat, poultry or seafood. These juices have germs in it. Make sure other food is safe from it.
5. Chilled and frozen food:
Do not buy chilled food from a shop that stores it at room temperature. Find out if the food is kept hot before you buy.Food from takeaway shops/restaurants should be eaten within two hours.
